What Are Human Rights?

Human rights are rights that each human should have no matter who that person is or where they are from. Human rights violations can be found globally and locally. Such human rights violations occur most commonly in third-world or developing countries. However, human rights violations occur in developed nations such as China. The United Nations has tried to solve such problems by imposing various laws and sanctions. These measures have a limited amount of effectiveness. It is up to the people to solve the existing problems today.

Human rights can be outlined in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Human rights violations commonly include discrimination and abuse against other racial, ethnic, religious, and/or gender backgrounds. Many countries with oppressive governments force human rights violations against their own people. Other governments do little to prevent human rights violations from happening in their countries.
